Background

2007 was an important year in Sheffield, not only was the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce celebrating its 150th anniversary but the oldest football club in the world where arguably modern football was born all celebrated its 150th anniversary Both the Chamber and the Football Club joined forces to produce the 150th campaign culminating in 150th dinners attended by Sepp Blatter and the Duke of York respectively

Brief

City Dressing was given the brief to produce a City Dressing strategy to make sure the 150th could reach the widest possible audience We were also tasked with raising the finance from the local business community

Solution

With planning permission a major obstacle in Sheffield, City Dressing managed to reserve a number of the main streets leading to the heart of the city We sold all the available sites on these streets producing a campaign that spanned 6 months.

Conclusion/ Success

The banners successfully promoted ‘Our 150th’ to an estimated 5 million people over the summer. All motorists travelling through the city, all visitors entering the city from the railway station and anyone going for a night out in the two most popular spots in Sheffield would have noticed the banners. This led to an unprecedented level of awareness for all the sponsors
