City Dressing has moved from West London to West England and is now headquartered in Chippenham just off the M4 near Bath. The company has also dropped the prefix Smart, to be called City Dressing. ‘Moving out of London marks an important milestone for the company and gives us the opportunity to invest in more relevant solutions for city and town centres with a particular focus on solutions for empty retail.’ Jeremy Rucker, City Dressing Director. |

Due to the current recession and challenging financial times we are facing, a lot of retail units are becoming vacant. According to a survey of Town Centre Managers we carried out late 2008, which highlighted the problem of vacant units causing eyesores in so many town centres, empty shop windows cause an increase in vandalism. We in response have devised several solutions that we feel are both cost effective and viable in terms of implementing even on a short term basis. The most popular methods of covering up retail units, is Window vinyl graphics in a self adhesive format. We also print and produce fabric banners, which can be installed on either the inside our outside of the relevant units. We are currently implementing measures in Plymouth, Hammersmith, Watford, Swindon, Birmingham, Chester and Edinburgh to name a few and we can get a lot more examples out to you should you require. We would be delighted to organise a convenient time for you to have one of our Team drop by and perhaps have a little walk around the area with yourself and to offer some more recommendations and suggestions. We would be able to take photos of the worst affected units and provide you with some digital mock ups along with some quotes to show you exactly what is possible and would be happy to arrange this on a complementary basis. Empty units make a town look derelict and unwelcoming. Whilst you are trying to encourage visitors and shoppers in to town Centre’s, these empty units reflect badly on a Town’s image. City Dressing’s affordable and yet highly effective solutions to this ever increasing problem go a long way to attract people back into town centre’s.Use of generic shapes (flowers for the summer and snowflakes in the winter) that we can even attach to the outside, is a simple method of adding cheer and colour to brighten up any space. Our more individual options can open up opportunities for Event Promotion, Branding and Specialist Advertising, to not only dramatically enhance the look of an area but also tap into viable streams of additional income. If you have any ideas of your own that you would like exploring to see if viable or for us to quote any other bespoke requirement, we would be happy to discuss these options with you also. For further information on any of the above options or for one of our Team to stop by and provide you with a more accurate indication on costs, please do not hesitate to get in touch. |

In 2008 City Dressing undertook a brand new initiative called the Interactive Light Show Tour. Essensially a festive interactive projection in town centres to allow public to engage with light. We visited a score of town and cities including Nottingham, Leicester, Kingston, Whitstable, Hammersmith to name a few. The interactive light show incorporates an interactive floor projection with large scale building projections and music. The aim is to transform a high street or square and allow the public to create their own effects. THE INTERACTIVE LIGHT SHOW TOUR Interactive - The floor projection is the centre of the light show and is directly interactive.
- The projection consists of a number of image layers combined with a movement sensor. As the public move within the projection, the images change to produce effects to include real time footsteps in the snow and image flips.
- We also have large gobos illuminating buildings and utilising passerby's shadows in the design. This linked in with background music and bespoke branding creates a unique seasonal attraction in the town centre.
Objective - Attract 50% more visitors to the town centre.
- Position your town as a unique seasonal destination.
- Provide an activity to compliment shopping.
- Make the lights interactive.

City Dressing produces an enterprising festive display for Leicester evellers in Leicester enjoyed a super-sized Christmas celebration last year thanks to the addition of a striking advent calendar displayed in Charles Street, produced and installed by City Dressing (SCD). The gigantic calendar, commissioned by Leicester City Council, raised funds for the Lord Mayor's Appeal for the Special Olympics Leicester 2009 and measured 24 metres by 12 metres. It was produced in PVC to ensure durability and consisted of a base layer with 24 images representing the various sponsors of the City Council, and a top layer constructed of 24 windows laid over the top.
City Dressing designed a bespoke mechanism to make the 'reveal' work smoothly every time. Jeremy Rucker SCD Director says "This project is an excellent example of what SCD can achieve. A client can come to us with a concept, or even just a vague outline of an idea and we'll make it happen." |
